Phil Fink is a telecommuting software programmer for Philanthropy Designs. Phil has a history of being one of the best at delivering what the customer needs. Phil has been requested by a customer to work on a really big project that could make or break Philanthropy Designs. Matt Collins the customer representative from Centre Seating, Inc. is flying out to meet with Phil to work on the project. Matt has worked with Phil before and thinks of Phil as intelligent and creative, but there is only one problem …no one has ever met Phil face-to-face and Phil wants to keep it that way.

The book "You Have Been Disconnected" is well written and easy to follow. Rida Allen has created a delightful romantic story that takes a look at the virtual world that we all live in today. Ms. Allen's use of conversations through email and instant messaging in the story is totally realistic. The development of the main character Phil was extremely well done. It takes the reader from looking at the life of a recluse, to the life of an open and lovable person. When forced to meet face-to-face with a customer, the character Phil discovers a whole new world.

The story was totally believable, because technology has opened up the door to telecommunication. The more people start to depend on email and other sources of online communication, the more isolated we will become. Rida Allen's story is an excellent example of this situation.
